Aged 49, Ramlie is a seasoned business and thought leader in Islamic Finance and Investments. He is a results-oriented leader and has a proven track record of delivering value and performance in start-up ventures, turn-around strategies and rapidly growing business.
Until recently, Ramlie led the Global Islamic Asset Management business for Nomura Group internationally as CEO of Nomura Islamic Asset Management for a period of almost 5 years and achieved several notable milestones and accolades for the firm – including record-high AUM, PBT and number of client mandates since incorporation, as well as several best-in-class industry and client awards during his tenure.
He joined Nomura from CIMB Group, where he served for more than 10 years and held several senior positions, including CEO & ED of CIMB-Principal Islamic Asset Management, CEO & ED of CIMB-Howden Insurance Brokers, CEO & ED of CIMB Futures, and Director & Head, Islamic Equity Markets & Derivatives of CIMB Investment Bank. During that period, he was involved in several global and local landmark deals and transactions as well as the launch of 3 pioneering Islamic UCITS Equity Funds for distribution in Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Ramlie has received industry recognition as “Top 50 Global Leader in the Islamic Economy” in 2018 & 2019 by ISLAMICA500, a Brussels-based international publication (also ranked as “Top 500” in 2015, 2016 and 2017); and “Upcoming Personality in Islamic Finance (for Leadership in Fund Management)” in 2016 during the annual Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA).
